Art Exhibition

In Term 4, Dawson Primary School will be having a Art Exhibition.

This occasion is when each class in our school make a piece of art to hung on display.

When the art piece are hung on display , your families are allowed to look at them after school

To get your art piece is costs $2.00.

If art is your talent , and if you are lucky you get chosen to be in the art extension,and in art extension, you make another piece of art with your age syndicate ..... also with MRS NORTHEY !!

What To Do When There Is A Earth Quake !

When there is an earthquake, there are certain things you will need and certain things to do !

• Things You Need

• First Aid Kit
• Canned Food
• Table
• Torch
• Radio/Phone

• What To Do :

• When you start to feel the ground shaking, stop what you’re doing IMMEDIATELY !
• Quickly pack these things. 1. Canned food to eat,2. A torch, and a radio or cellphone so you can listen on the radio what’s happening !
• Find the nearest table and go underneath so your body is protected.
• Hold on to the table leg so the table doesn’t move away, because if it does your body is not covered !
• Just be patient and wait for the earthquake to go away.

How Our Weta Inquiry Is Going .

• Our Weta Project has been improving lots!

Our weta house designs are coming together and Josh [Our Expert Helper] has been coming in our class on the previous Tuesdays to help us with our designs .

For our designs we had to think about a majority of things like

• How is the weta going to go inside the house
• How are we going to stop the rain from dripping on the house
• How are going to attach to the trees

* That the fact Weta's are nocturnal.  And other things as well as those !

Auckland Zoo

On the 27th of  July, We had a free trip to the Zoo!

The reason Rm 18 is going to Auckland Zoo is because we are working with South Sci about Weta's becoming extinct and they helped us with our project by funding our trip .


In this learning space at the Zoo, Zookeepers were talking to  my class & Aorere College about everything and anything you would need to know about our New Zealand insect the WETA !

After the learning experience, we headed outside to explore a life of zoo animals !! My absolute favourite animal I got see was the Red Panda and the Tiger .

Market Day

Prep

On the 6th of july ,   Our whole senior syndicate had a prep market day. Prep

is when our senior school syndicate get  into business groups and make products/services .

my group the Ballerz were running a movie service, which meant we started our service before the actual market day. We got all the customers settled and started the movie. When the movie started, we handed  out the food packs and enjoyed the movie.

On the actual day, all the groups started to set up their products. I was apart of the BANKstERS A.K.A bankers. When it started, I ran straight to the Gamer crew  group,with danielle,tim,hazel,daiara and suzy. I went to throw the ball and… MISSED !

After buying some products,Tayge and myself were running the bank. We were exchanging other customers change. When it was over, everyone helped tidy up and clean.

THAT WAS A SUPER EXPERIENCE TO SEE!

Maritime Museum

Maritime Museum

  On the 30th of June, our year 6 syndicate went on a bus to the Maritime Museum.

When we had arrived, our tour guide [Leichelle] was telling us about the schedule for that day. I was put in Group 1 with room 16 and others from my class.

Our group was sailing first , I was just sitting on this long chair holding onto the bars and watching the waves crashing  down. The waka went underneath the harbour bridge, then we went a little longer down then turned around and went back to the museum.

Next, we swapped over with group two and headed to the workshop with Leichelle.  In the workshop we watched some small clips about the polynesian Voyagers and how they traveled on the ocean. After that, at 12.00 pm this golden cannon goes off so the other workers know it was half of the day gone. And also since the voyager never had clocks, the would fire the cannon other villager knew.

Finally - LUNCH !! Our syndicate came together to have our lunch.  We had enough time to split into groups and explore the museum.  But at 1.45pm  we had to leave.

THAT WAS ONE OF THE MOST COOLEST TRIPS EVER!

Vans

Vans is my other favourite brand. Most people in class don’t like vans accept me.

Here are 3 facts about the brand !

1.  The company was originally founded by brothers Paul and Jim Van Doren. They had two partners along with them, Gordon Lee and Serge Delia.
2. Vans was founded on March 16, 1966 and opened at 704 E. Broadway in Anaheim California.
3. The first 12 customers were asked to return later in the day to pick up their shoes as a problem had arisen. They did but the brothers hadn’t any change and then asked the 12 customers to return the next day to pay, and all 12 did
